Fishing friends embrace the festive spirit
Over 34 HAHA's members gathered yesterday for the annual Christmas Dinner at the famous Wrestlers pub in Highgate and a great time was had by all!
Since its inception six years ago when four keen anglers, all concerned for the future of fishing on Hampstead Heath, initially met to discuss what could be done to protect this most important and valuable resource, HAHAS has now grown and matured to become a highly significant and influential voice for all London fishermen.
One thing we are most proud of is our broad and eclectic membership with anglers from all walks of life. What binds us all together is not only a love of fishing, but the desire to protect the waters, fish, and wildlife, preserve the right for youngsters and future generations to fish on the ponds, the new friends we have all made and the recognition of how important fishing is to so many people.
We now have almost fifty keen members. Our list of achievements is impressive. HAHAS campaigns strongly on the Sports Council, we have installed vital oxygenating equipment and built disabled fishing platforms to enable access for all. Members continually measure water quality and potentially disastrous fish kills have been avoided only by our rapid action. We have held very many angling tuition sessions and introduced hundreds of youngsters and newcomers to the sport. Our enthusiasm remains and we have ambitious plans for the future. We hope that you share our values and join us.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and tight lines for 2025!
